Trujillo

Abstract

I began publishing these essays in December 1932, that is sixteen months after Generalissimo Trujillo had taken the oath of office as President of the Republic for the first time. At that time I published the Silueta del Presidente Trujillo (“A Sketch of President Trujillo”), my first biographical work about him, the main points of which are still valid. Since then I have devoted my entire literary output to a detailed study of the man and his work. Thus, other outlines were published as newspaper articles under various titles in the Listin Dairio and La Opinion from 1932 to 1936. In August 1937 my work Trujillo de Cuerpo Entero (“A Full-Length Portrait of Trujillo”) was published, embodying new aspects of that multi-faceted personality and completing the preceding works. The present work is a revised edition of those others that constituted the fourth edition of “Trujillo” , ichich now appears considerably increased by other articles, some of which have been published before. I have thought it likewise appropriateto include several illustrations.
